Meet Kimberly
Hi, I’m so happy you’re here! I started my career in crisis hospitals and community social work, but after I saw first-hand how the system fails the ones who needed help most, I left and opened my own counseling practice. My therapeutic style has evolved along with my experience. I now focus on a mix of Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamics, and various client driven techniques. Athena Counseling is a safe place and I would love to talk with you.

Hey there, I am glad to meet you! Life is inherently challenging. At times, we worry too much, have difficulty maintaining relationships, get stuck in the past, and struggle to cope with daily life. We also experience intense grief and devastating losses. You can learn to be more present and in the moment in order to overcome your challenges, and I will truly see, hear and validate you in a safe and judgement free environment. I can be a sounding board to help you find your path and your passion for life, thereby becoming the best version of yourself.
It Started with an Idea
For many years Kimberly worked on the corporate side of medical care. From her experience treating people with severe mental illnesses, hospice social work and crisis hospitals, something stood out. Those who needed help most were neglected and cast off by the health care system. But then, she had an idea. What if there was somewhere, or someone, helping that part of the population? In 2017 Kimberly opened Athena Counseling Service, PLLC as a start to answering that question, and to do her part towards serving her community. A few years later, there are two locations in the DFW area and she continues to provide a safe space to talk, discover, and heal — one day at a time.
